dubstep its like that

Whatup -

I’ve been kicking around the idea of writing for a blog for quite sometime, and luckily Blair was kind enough to invite me in. What you’ll be getting from me is a look into the electronic dance scene, through both the music and the nightlife that accompanies it. I mainly listen to the heavy-bass genres but you’ll see posts from me touching just about every corner of the electronic dance scene. Today I’m not focusing on one artist in particular but rather my favorite genre of music: Dubstep

I first started hearing dubstep at local Seattle raves in 2006, and although it’s tough to admit now, it was not love at first listen. The genre slowly grew on me but it wasn’t until I heard Rusko absolutely destroy his remix of Kid Sister’s Pro Nails that I truly became hooked.

Kid Sister – Pro Nails (Rusko Remix)

In the 4 years since I heard that track, dubstep has exploded like I never anticipated, invading large festivals like Coachella and most recently Sasquatch, headlined by Skrillex and Bassnectar. Seattle is slowly becoming a very popular stop for DJs. I’ve been lucky enough to see Excision, Rusko, Skrillex and Datsik all roll through town in the last 6 months. But enough with the reading and on to the bass…
